Equipment Donations on the Way to Troops

Golf equipment is on its way to US Army forces thanks to an initiative spearheaded by Farmstead Golf Links and Meadowlands Golf Club and organized by Meadowlands shop manager Shawn Denney.

Golf clubs and balls were collected from several courses following a request by a serviceman affiliated with Farmstead Golf Links.  Participating courses include Brick Landing, Rivers Edge, Eagle Nest, The Pearl,  and Crow Creek.

“We sometimes have clubs left at the courses by golfers; if they’re unclaimed in a few months, we usually donate them to organizations such as First Tee,” said Farmstead and Meadowlands General Manager Jason Monahan.  “When we got this request, we contacted the other courses in the East Coast Golf Management family. Their response was overwhelmingly generous. They all felt this is a very worthy effort. Our servicemen and women deserve our support and thanks,” Monahan said.

Dozens of clubs and hundreds of golf balls were donated from the courses and collected at Meadowlands. Course co-owner Teresa McLamb delivered them to Fort Bragg where they were received by members of the Special Forces community.
